How do we solve gender injustice or poverty when our salaries depend on it?
Power
Why do I still “like” charismatic leaders, even when these often head groups with rooted patriarchal ideologies? At the very least, I would like to acknowledge the complex relationships between leadership, power and gender.
Labour
How do we solve gender injustice or poverty when our salaries depend on it?
Processes lacked strategic consideration for selecting the most suitable person for tasks. Instead, assignments often went to whoever was available—or, worse, followed a tokenizing approach that assigned responsibilities to those with lived experience, without providing necessary support, resources, or a clear vision.
What the hell did “bring your whole selves to work” means? What a euphemism. They wanted us to bring our whole selves because [organization’s name] was draining so much of people’s energy and time (and labour) they could not live a fulfilling life outside of the organization. I don’t think a sentence can be more tokenistic. Bring all your identities here – for what? For you to use them all for your profit? Minorities have been hiding part of their identities for survival, and you are pretty much asking them to remove all their boundaries just because.
Language
You must enter the space with all sorts of politically correct knowledge and everything on hand to make space for yourself in the movement. I find this violent. I don’t have everything figured out.
I will hear them repeat the word feminist over and over without any sense. It was an ever present buzzword I couldn’t escape from. A buzzword trap. I remember laughing by myself. This is a feminist this. This is a feminist that. This is a feminist… chicken? Everything seems to be feminist now. Feminists all the time. We were slaughtering the word, getting rid of its true meaning (what’s its true meaning anyways?)
I felt overwhelmed, betrayed by all those big names, big egos who said all those big empty concepts.
